They don't all brown out. This is a fairly nice example of a 2yo still retaining very nice color.

Yes it is still a pastel. All pastels brown out. As is the one you just posted. It looks like just about any other pastel at the same age.

So, you're saying that all pastels are the same? That there is no such thing as a difference in quality?

There is a difference in opinion. Just about all pastels look the same when they are adults. Yes some will be a little more browned than others but for the most part when they are adults, they look very similar. Whether or not you want to call it "quality" or not is up to you. To me a low quality pastel has very little color, be it yellow or orange, and has a browning line down past the sides. Kind of a muddy all around appearance. Pastels with more blushing will tend to look a little better due to their blushing. That though, is also just opinion. Some people like banded pastels, some like blushed and others may like the classic jungle. I have seen very bright pretty baby pastels turn out to be pretty ugly as adults.

To the OP:
If you are planning on breeding her down the road, I'd take extra thought as to how she looks color wise now. If you feel that she will turn out to your liking based on your observations of her now, I'd say scoop her up. You'll be paying for/feeding/cleaning it, so bottom line, it's up to your personal preference. If I were considering purchasing her, I'd have to see her in person, or photographed under a clear brighter lighting to make my personal decision.
