Outside. Or, at least that's what I do.

Yeah a pic would be great, lol, so the plexiglass is more in the middle type thing?

The screen in my top is 27" long, so I leave approx. 1/2" uncovered on both ends. My plexiglass is covered in reflective foil HVAC tape to 1.) Simulate the traditional foil-top treatment, and 2.) Not be another open "window" for the snake to feel insecure about. Technically, I have 4 sides covered. I cut the plexiglass into 4 different sized pieces to open the top up more or less, if wanted. Also have extra different sized pieces on the side to really give opening options.

I use sponge neoprene (swimsuit material) that has an adhesive side. I would suggest double-sided tape for your styro board so you can remove it later if you want.

    Aren't fish tanks a joy(sarcasm)

Have you thought about maybe going to a tub and get away from all of the heat/humidity issues altogether so you can enjoy your snake and not stress over it's housing constantly?

Everyone is a tub snob on here... A little creativity, a couple extra dollars, and you have yourself something attractive to look at that doesn't resemble grandma's leftover lasagna. P.s.- Hot side: 90*, Cold side 79*, Ambient 85*, Humidity: whatever I want it to be.

yup i'm really looking to switch over. When i'm home i look at her temp monitor almost every 30 mins....
    too much damn worrying!

but i use a old shirt of mine to cover 3/4 of the tank on top and spray every morning when i wake up.
i also keep her infared bulb over the water dish and that keeps humidity at 60-70% the whole day.
when i wake up in the mornings its at 55%.
but i also live in Florida so its probably easier to keep humidity than other places....
