    Pretty pied, or something more?

We picked up this Pied we've had money on for a while yesterday, and we were wondering if it's perhaps a little more than it seems? Someone in the store swore it was a Pastel Pied, but I'm not so sure about that...perhaps a Pumpkin Pied? Or is it really just a pretty pied?

Sorry the lighting was kinda bad, it was on my phone, and DeSoto here was on a mission to escape...

She's very pretty, but I don't see pastel pied or pumpkin pied there. Pastel pieds have a golden yellow color to them. I've never seen a pumpkin pied in person, but they are supposed to be more orange in color.

Breeding is the only way to tell for sure, but my opinion from looking at your pictures is you have a nice pied.

Edit: An interesting difference I've just noticed, is that pastel pieds tend to have a light color surronding their color bloches where as the normal pieds seem to have a darker outline.

My pastel pied for comparison (it's not a good photo and doesn't show his color very well):

Not a pumpkin. Pumpkins have sharp double lines, and no extra swirls or blotches in their patterns.

But that neck pattern is swish, and the colors are very bright. Can you ask the the store who the breeder was?

Definitely good info to have, thank you! Unfortunately, the store owner didn't know the owner personally, and he's been passed around a few times, so no one knows for sure. We're hoping, if he is just a pretty pied, that it'll prove to be genetic, and we can have pieds with that gorgeous color. Either way, we're really happy with him ^^
