My husband is going to end up killing me...
Currently we have an empty tank. It was the tank I was using to house the rosy boas until I upgraded them to a bigger tank (both tanks have/had dividers to separate the snakes). For now, the empty tank sits in our living room as we keep trying to figure out where to store it. Today I had a great idea! This is how the conversation went:
Me: I know what we should do with that tank!
Husband: What's that?
Me: We need to get a flat screen tv and hang on it on the wall, then we need an end table to put next to this tv stand for the cable boxes. After we move the cable boxes, we can put the aquarium on top of the stand it will fit perfectly.
Husband: Ok...
Me: THEN we can get a kingsnake to put in the aquarium!!!
You should have seen the look on his face! A camera would have been priceless at that time.
We already have more snakes than he thought he would ever have in home, and now he knows I'm pushing for a kingsnake (I want an aberrant CA king). I'm going to be in trouble....
Why keep a snake? Why keep any animal? Because you enjoy the animal, find something beautiful and fascinating about it, and it fits seamlessly into your lifestyle.

Still planning to go to the L.A. reptile super show on Jan. 5/6. We'll see what I come back with.

tell me about it, I have already put down a deposit and couple of payments on a BEL from Constrictors Unlimited and my wife has threatened death if we get another snake (slightly dramatic....slightly). She is stationed in Korea so when she comes home she is going to find another snake, our third (my daughter and I) and I am kinda scared. Damn this addiction
2.0 Red Tail Boa (BCC) - Neil, Hermes (Suriname)
0.1 Normal Ball - Moonlight (RIP)
1.0 BEL (lesser x mojave)
0.1 Pinstripe - Starlight
1.1 Dogs - Champ, Megan

My husband being away for active duty is how we ended up with 2 rosy boas instead of 1! lol We were planning on just one, and then my coworker offered me 2, and he wasn't there to say no.

Rest assured, they'll be kept far apart, on separate ends of the house!

Well maybe I WON'T be getting a kingsnake after all... My husband is ever so subtly hinting he wants a lizard. Since I have gotten my way with getting snakes so far, I think maybe it would be nice for me to oblige and allow him to get a lizard.
So now we need to figure out what kind... he has expressed interest in a bearded dragon. I've thrown out other possible suggestions of leopard gecko and uromastyx (I've had both of those in the past). We both agree no monitors, green iguanas or anything else that gets to be on the bigger side. I guess the first step is for him to figure out what he wants in a lizard, and then we can go from there to find the right species for us.
