Mice Vs. Rats

Which is a better feeder? My little girl is eating large frozen mice regularly but someone told me i would be better off feeding her frozen hopper or weaned rats. They said that they're more nutritious and will promote growth. Any truth or opinions on this? Much thanks!

It really doesnt matter as long as you feed your snake the right amount of food. Feeding 3 twenty gram mice is equivalent to feeding 1 sixty gram rat. Although feeding rats is more convenient because you inky have to thaw one at a time instead of feeding multiple mice

Lots of opinions on this but don't know how much evidentiary support there is.

In a nutshell the larger single prey item you can feed, the more convenient it is for you and perhaps a better meat to total mass ratio. The idea on the latter being that multiple animals being of the same total weight as a single animal, will have multiple skeletons and hides so may not be quite as much protien. Short of that, probably doesn't make much difference so do what ever is most convenient and economical as long as your animal readily eats.

I don't buy that rats are better than mice, but they are easier. You can match the size of the rat to the size of the snake into adulthood. Once your snake is large enough you will have to start feeding it several mice each time you feed it. You don't have to switch to rats, but typically it's easier and more cost effective.
