Unhappy Can a Het Albino Ball Python be dark in colors?

I have a new snake and she isn't white. In fact she has dark army colors on her. I was told by her breeder that she is an Het Albino Ball Python. How ever my X husband said after seeing her pic that she is not an Albino. Albino's are mostly white or light in color is what he told me. I just want to know if he is right, and if so what is my snake?

Your snake isn't a visual albino so it doesn't display albino coloring. It carries the gene for albino, but looks like a normal looking ball python. If you decide to breed it, to say, another het albino you would have a one in four shot of getting a visual albino, that has the white and orange coloring you are thinking of.

A Het Albino will look like a normal. If bred to another Het Albino 1/4 of the offspring will be visual Albino. If bred to a visual Albino 1/2 of the offspring will be visual Albino.

Red face Re: Can a Het Albino Ball Python be dark in colors?

Thank you very much for solving my little dilema. I now know more about my Abby that the books I have read didn't tell me. So glad there is a place to come and ask questions.

Glad I could help out. Is Abby the snake in your avatar?

be careful using the word will. you have 25% chance per egg on getting an albino from het albino to het albino breeding and 50% chance per egg on a visual albino to het albino
