buying a rack from a reptile show
i've only been to a couple reptile shows so far, and when i went i was more paying attention to snakes and their prices than the racks they had for sale there. i know snake prices tend to be a little cheaper at the shows and sometimes you can haggle breeders down a little. i figured it's about time to invest in a rack. i was wondering if rack prices at shows tend to be a little cheaper than they are online, and are the merchants usually willing to negotiate prices on them at the shows? trying to decide if i should go ahead and order one online or wait until the next show i go to to pick one up.

I haven't noticed any savings on cages or racks at shows, but you don't have to pay shipping! I have also seen a coupe of racks with flaws at shows that they sell at a deep discount. There is also the possibility of finding something used.

You can usually pick a merchant out who's going to a show and pay for it now online with the option to pick up at the show.

Check Craigslist and Faunaclassifieds for racks in your area. They pop up every few weeks and you can find them really cheap. Ignore the twits that post them for a few dollars less than new. If you're patient you will find real bargains
As an example, I paid $100 for a Reptile Basics sweaterbox rack that was literally brand new and never used. They sell for $300. The person was moving and needed it gone ASAP. That's the exception but you can regularly find used racks in great condition for less than half the cost of new.
Good luck.
