As mentioned you do need to know your local laws as well, they have to inside your house, facing you and you have to fear for your life or the life of another to pull a gun, a gun is lethal force, even shooting to wound is likely to kill so if you need a less then lethal option pick something else. In the instance mentioned, I would not use the gun unless the person came after me.
Yea but someone else had already mentioned in the thread that if someone breaks in and gets bit by your dog you could be held liable lol. Idk what the laws are where they live or where you live though.
