Leopard Ball Python questions
Hey all I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction.
I was thinking about getting a female leopard ball.
I heard that there is a theory that all leopard balls are 100% het pied. Does anyone know if this has proven true yet?
I have a male pied and was thinking a leopard would be a good addition to my collection.

Wish I could help. I've only seen people say that ALL leopards are 100% het pied because the leopard gene is linked to the pied gene. I will remain skeptical until someone more capable can prove this and explain everything in detail with picture documentation. I'd pick up a leopard just because they're pretty sweet .

So far everything points toward leopard is just a visual het pied, its not linked to the gene, it is the gene. People have claimed to have leopard pieds that produce all leopards (in other words they are super leopards) And so far no one has been able to make a leopard and prove it out not to be "het pied". There were rumors of someone doing it but I couldn't find any facts on it. So as far as I can see, everything points at Leopard and Pied being part of the same complex, same locus different alleles. Leopard is just more visual that het pied. That my story until more info comes in.

Very interesting this is the first I heard of this concept. One Recessive and one "Dominant", you gotta love ball pythons.

incomplete dominant (co-dom) the super is a pied, that produces all leopards.

Even the original pied allele is pretty darn close to co-dom.

Right, WOBP still has it listed as Dominant. My bad will have to use your site more.
