    Adult BP Rack System Recommendation

My BP collection is growing at an exponential rate, and it is no longer feasible or efficient for me to continue buying 40gallon breeder tanks. I have run out of room in my house! It has come time for me to start looking for racks to keep my adults in, as well as some racks for when my hatchlings come. My plan is to keep the tanks I have to display my prettiest of morphs. Does anyone have any suggestions of what racks they like for breeding/keeping their adults in. I would also be interested in knowing how you set these racks up. for instance, what kind of water dish do you use, what kind of hide(s), etc. Thanks for any advice!

I'm using the 32qt sterlite rack from reptile basic. I have the back heat model and it works great for me and Rich@ reptile basic has excellent and i mean excellent customer service. I'm just using a heavy duty clear water bowl that my mom use to store food in. Comes in multiple sizes, havn't had any tip overs yet. As for hides I don't find it necessary, racks are black out on three sides so it isn't all expose like a tank. my girls so far havn't refuse a meal yet!

Oh and I'm using a divider right now to divide up the 32qt cause my girls are still small. I have to say the dividers work excellent and are easy to clean.

If I even need a new rack I would definately talk to Rich again

I live in Canada so I can't exactly recommend a certain place to order from, but I can give input about racks.

I have my males in a 28 qt tub. My smaller girls are there as well. For my larger girl I have her in a 41qt Rubbermaid. I'll be getting a 41qt rack though. She's 2500ish grams so way too cramped in a 28qt.

My racks have enclosed sides so I don't use hides. It makes it like they're in a gigantic hide.

They're on bounty paper towels with glass heavy bottomed dishes.

I like Animal Plastics a lot for their products. I have three racks from them, an 8-slot Sterilite 1756 model and as well as an Iris CB-70 12-slot monster. The other one I can't remember or find the model name...and it's cold out and they're all above my garage, sooooooooo it shall remain unnamed...hahahahaha! That said, their customer service is excellent and their prices more than reasonable for the quality of their products. Their economy line of racks are more affordable at the initial cost but might run higher since you'd have to heat an entire room to keep the ambient temps in the tubs high enough if you use one of those. My 1756 rack has belly heat with 3" Flexwatt and the CB-70 rack has dual-side radiant heat from 11" Flexwatt. The Iris rack isn't being used currently as I downsized my collection quite a bit and only have a single adult female at the moment, all the others are juveniles or sub-adults. My babies are in 6 quart tubs, the juveniles in 15 quart tubs and the males and sub-adult females in 32 quart tubs. My single big girl is in a 41 quart tub.

Only the babies have hides in theirs, only one of the others do and they all eat just fine. Once mine hit 300-500 grams, depending on the snake and their "personality", the hides get taken out. I have one sub-adult female who still has her hide at 800+ grams...apparently it's her security blanket since she refuses food without it. Most of mine are on unprinted newspaper, with a few of the babies/juveniles being on shredded aspen so they can burrow and feel more secure if they elect to. I use small heavy ceramic dishes for my babies/juveniles and large, heavy ceramic dishes for my sub-adults and adults for water. If you check out some of the YouTube videos, some of the larger breeders use PVC couplers that they then place a small plastic condiments cup into for their water dishes. That option for me isn't cost-effective and there's nowhere close by to recycle plastic so I keep enough bowls on hand to swap them out every two days and wash the "dirty" ones before swapping again. Racks are great for a larger collection but will require ambient heat in the room. The Flexwatt or heat cable or whatever you have installed isn't capable of heating the tubs to the correct ambient temps, only to create a "hot" or warm spot. You'll still have to heat the room you're keeping them in to achieve the correct ambient temps. Something to think about is all. Good luck and hope that helps!

I have a 16/32 quart rack from animal plastics. I love it. I actually have belly heat and radiant heat on sides in the front to bump up the temps to 79-80 on the cool side. Our house is kept on the cool side so I knew we need something to keep the temps where they needed to be. I called and emailed a couple other companies and ap was the only one who was willing to customize the way we needed it. It was ready within the suggested timeframe and packed and arrived safely. Easy to follow directions or so we thought till my husband got confused with the radiant for the front. I left a message and it was already after hours but Ali called back that night.

i just ordered a 41 quart slot rack for our one bigger girl and for our other girls who will eventually join her.

Hides are usually the ones from I order from Pangea but my new albino did not have hides in his old rack so we are experimenting with no hides for him.
