    Shipping: Should I be concerned??

So I'm getting two snakes shipped from near Fort Lauderdale, Florida...
Right now they are in Indianapolis, IL. Arrived at 12:30 AM.
And I live in Nashville, TN.

They were overnighted, but it seems a bit odd for them to ship up there...

When I get my snakes, they stop in Indianapolis and I live in Boston. I think it must bee an overnight sorting facility of some sort.

    Alright, thanks guys!
They arrived on time, just was a bit weird to me they ended up there!!

They are safe and healthy, but I had to fuss at the woman at the FedEx that I picked them up from.
She goes, "Here's your package." and then PLOPS the box on the counter...on its side and then rights it.

I was furious...Informed her that there were live animals in there...

Her only response was "Oops...sorry." really apathetically.

Wow, how infuriating... What a tool! I hope they're in good health. Are they ball pythons?

Glad you got them. Yes they will typically send them to hubs way out of the way to save on over all shipping cost for them. No matter what, when I get a snake it routes through to Memphis then Memphis to Houston. Only time I've had it go through DFW to houston was when it came from a close state like Missouri or Oklahoma. And yeah, fedex is currently on my dirty list. . . just finished a shipping ordeal with a retic with them yesterday.

    They seem to be okay.
    Not terribly stressed.

Apparently a box that says "Fragile" and "HANDLE WITH CARE" isn't enough for a shipping place to take mind.

Yeah, they are baby ball pythons.

Ah, that makes more sense. I just wish they would be more careful...if they treated the package that way in front of me I worry about how they're treated when I cant see them.
Though the box arrived in great shape and the packing was great, so I think they weren't jostled around too much.
    Thanks!

Glad they arrived in good shape!

Those are my concerns too. There's a gate at the top of my driveway, and shipping companies won't come through it. The postman does call me when I get a package so I can come up and receive it, but UPS and FedEx just drop it and leave (UPS blasts their horn a couple times too, disturbing everyone and getting every dog in the neighborhood to bark...). So one time I ordered a saddle, and on the day it was due to arrive I heard the UPS truck blasting their horn. So I grab my shoes and start walking up the driveway. I am almost to the gate and there's my package... flying over the gate, hitting the ground with a large THUD. Plastered all over the box were "fragile" and "this side up" stickers, too. Thankfully the saddle was not damaged. The driver was already in the truck and leaving when I started yelling at him.
So I understand your concerns. If they handle our shipments in that manner in front of us, what do they do when no one is looking?
Why keep a snake? Why keep any animal? Because you enjoy the animal, find something beautiful and fascinating about it, and it fits seamlessly into your lifestyle.

    Oh wow! What a jerk!!

I was scared of ordering snakes through a breeder because of the shipping.
Don't get me wrong though, the breeder made that package really well bedded for the snakes. They were not touching each other and in separate sacks inside the box. Plenty of soft shredded magazine and newspaper. And a heat pack.

I don't think they would have fared so well if they had not been packed so well.

If some UPS guy did that I'd probably chase them down! Haha. You could probably call and make a complaint if it happens again. They know which driver is going along each route.

Glad your saddle made it though! I haven't gotten a new one in years!
