RHP placement, wattage, and lighting
I need to know which RHP is better for each of these two size cages
6'x2'x1.5' i was thinking 120watt RBI
4'x2'x1.5' here was thinking 80watt RBI
also should it be placed centered to thoroughly heat the ambient temp or on one side.
If on one side should there be an alternative heat source for the cool side to raise it above 70
my average household temp is 68-70
Which thermostat is best and is it best to have one thermostat per RHP per Cage
When using RHP what is best for day night cycle lighting and also night viewing all to be contained with in the cage

Re: RHP placement, wattage, and lighting
would doing 120 on both be better or 80 on both sizes or do I have the right idea on splitting them. And I am still not for sure on the placement if one side or centered is best for the RHP. Please help

Re: RHP placement, wattage, and lighting
What type of cages are we talking about? I would give Rich a Reptile Basics a call he was a great help when I was looking for mine. I ended up using 40w RHP in my custom 4X2X1 enclosures. They work great I talked over my need with Rich a RBI and he was a huge help

They are wood enclosures

They should be placed where you would like the hot spot to be. Radiant heat does not heat ambient air much at all (past 2 or 3 degrees) I can't imagine using a 120º I have very cool temps and use a 40w (at or below 68º most of the winter) I have a nice 90º hot spot with no issues. The lighting in the enclosure holds ambient just fine.
