    Caring for dragons with MBD

Hey guys, I'm looking for any info on how to care for a dragon with MBD long term. The dragon in question is (mostly) stabilized and my friend is thinking of adopting him. While I have a general idea of what his needs would be I was looking for more info.

MBD is reversable if I remember correctly? The main issue is insuring that you correct any and all husbandry issues. Metabolic Bone Disease is an issue when either your animal is lacking in Calcium, or does not have enough D3 from UVA to absorb the calcium leading to soft bones and ultimately fractures, inability to feed, and death. . . As long as the animal is stable with no fractures, I would ensure they have a proper UV Light set up, increase the amount of calcium being eaten by the beardy (Calcium dusting everything). And ensure that the veggitables used have the proper ratios (Dandilions are the best IMO - lettuce is the worst). Over time, the bones begin to absorb the needed calcium, just be careful that no breaks occur in a move, and possibly check with the local exotics vet to get an xray to make sure there is no internal damage not visible.

MDB isn't really reversible. The effects can be stopped, but the bones will continue to be deformed. As long as you care correctly for it with the right UVB amounts, calcium dusting, etc. it will be fine. If he's no longer in danger, treat him like a normal beardie. Overdosing on calcium is possible too, so don't go overboard.
