Best substrate for breeding tubs?

I've been using Sani-chips for my tubs. Sani-chips were recommended to me because they aren't as dusty, but LadyOhh (and others) have mentioned that sometimes the chips can get wedged up into the male's vent after breeding, and the sharp edges of the cut aspen can lead to Big Problems. I don't want Big Problems, so I've been keeping my breeding pairs on paper.

But wow, keeping tubs clean with paper is a PAIN IN THE NECK.

So what are my alternatives? What are people using for their breeding pairs? Are shredded aspen or cypress safer than the Sani-chips? Do you recommend a particular brand?

Yeah. Sanichips can get stuck in vents and to hemipenes.

For breeding tubs, I use newspaper.

Bounty or Brawny paper towels

It's only a hassle if you don't like cleaning every few days or daily, lol.
I like the fact it makes you keep on top of it, no substrate to hide the nastiness

I use paper towels in all my tubs

I use carpet in all my tubs. I have lots of extras and just throw them in a bucket when soiled. When I get a whole load, I throw them in the washing machine with bleach. Easy as pie and cheaper than non reusable substrate.

OMG. And you know how breeding pairs are: you put them in the nice clean tub and someone IMMEDIATELY take a giant dump. Every. Time.

I like the recyclable aspect! But my husband has a thing about Bad Smells in the house. It's the main reason I'm not allowed to have a cat, he can't stand kitty litter smell. And I bet that used carpet bucket is RIPE.

For my burmese I use outdoor carpet easy to clean and helps with the shedding started using it for my breeding pairs seems to work.

I use newspaper. It's easy and doesn't get stuck in places.

I use Kraft Bogus paper in all of our adult racks, breeding or not. It is thicker than newspaper.
