    Aggressive male???

This is a first for me so I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this. I've been pairing up my male lesser and female mojave for the past few weeks. 2 days together, then 3 days separate. Today I put him in her tub and he started flailing around hitting the sides of the tub. It scared me so bad I took him out and let him stay in his tub for the day. When i got home from work, i put him in with her again. He is acting very uncomfortable, a little hitting the sides of the tub, but not as much or as hard. Im sitting here watching them to make sure he doesn't hurt himself or my mojo. He isn't acting interested in her at all. Meanwhile my mojave girl is tail wagging like crazy. What do you think his deal is?

I fed them yesterday and both ate a small f/t rat. Temps and humidity are stable. It looks like my mojo girl is going into shed if that might cause some weird reaction?

Due to his actions, for the moment I'd just let him chill out and let her go through her shed period and then pair them as soon as she sheds.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Have you seen males behave like this before?

    +1 on after she sheds!

Not quite the same observation . . . but it seems like not all tail wagging is a come hither. The one time I've seen a female tail wag at a male, she was pretty upset, wagging her tail, peeing, zipping around her cage as soon as I introduced him. The male's reaction wasn't interest -- he hid in a corner. They'd locked a few times before that happened and after a week or so for her to calm down, they bred again.

Just let everyone chill for a while, they should be good

Lol I'm pretty sure she was inviting him. She was slowly following him around the tub but if she got too close, he would quickly slither away. Poor girl just wants a little lovin . Well I have them separated now. I'll see what happens after she sheds. I'm hoping this is her pre-ovulation shed anyway, so maybe he wanted to wait lol.

Be careful... I paired with a female the day after they ate and she was in shed and she REGURGED! I won't be making that mistake again.

Also, have you seen them locking up? I have read that flailing around might mean you have 2 males on your hands. How sure are you of the gender?

I picked up a proven male and was told that he has a violent reaction to a new female. Didn't think much of it but it was pretty scary when it happened. He knocked the water bowl over and was pushing the tub out of the rack. I removed him for a few days and then tried again. Not a sound out of that tub that second time. That was a first for me.

Positive of the genders. They have locked up a few times in the past few weeks. That's why I though this was extra weird. The male has always been a little high strung. He's one of my more tense bp's any time I handle him, but he's bred before and this was a first for him, and me.

Sounds very similar to what I saw. It was pretty scary. I'm going to put him back in tomorrow to see what his reaction is.

Just want to add that just to be safe unless you've seen that gal on a clutch to double check her. It wouldn't be the first time mistakes have happened. Males will lock with other males. And they commonly will have those extreme tantrums when placed with another male. Just in any doubt double check.
