F10SC as part of QT process ideas?
So BP.NET I was wondering what everyone's opinion of using F10SC as part of a QT process.
Should or Shouldn't
Why or Why Not
I am not asking if it will shorten the QT process but your opinions on rather it would be a good preventive measure for new snakes coming in and If you think it is a good process how long and how many days would you go?
What else other than treating for mites do you do as preventative measures (I am pretty sure everyone is in agreement that mites should be treated for even if you see none with a new snake)?
Do you use preventive treatment for intestinal parasites?
Some food for thought

Yes a good disinfectant system should be part of quarantine. Quarantine is however is as much a mind set as anything else, everything separate, tools substrate ect. Washing hands and disinfecting regularly is important. The most scary of the diseases BP can have also according to new research have what could be a long incubation period. I use a long quarantine process at the very least 100 days.
I would also suggest testing to eliminate potential issues fecal exam at the very least one but two is better every BM has evidence of parasites. Blood work this will show a handful of problems but also establishes a 'healthy' base line for the future. Personally I also have an IBD test done. This is one that I feel can shorten the quarantine period with out it I would suggest that 200-300 days would be prudent. This will vary depending on the history of the new animal, if it is coming from a person who you know well and who's collection you know and know there has been no deaths from in a long time perhaps shorter is fine if it is someone you do not have intimate knowledge of then a mid range and if there has been deaths and there is a question quarantine should be extended.
Remember following the disinfecting instructions carefully and completely is the only effective way to be sure it is doing its job. Skipping steps will neutralizing the product before it kills the 'bugs'.
General procedure is simple;
remove as much material as possible,
Scrub with soap/detergent and hot water,
Rinse rinse rinse,
Saturate with disinfectant keep it saturated for the complete contact time (F10 is ten min CHD/CHG is also ten there are others used that are 30 so if in doubt use 30 min contact time)
Rinse if needed or mop up extra if not and complete the clean.
F10 is a system, if it were me I would use the complete system not just the partial F10SC. (F10SCDX and F919 cleaner)
tech info is here (f10)...

Are you using it to clean the tub/water dishes/etc or as a fogger?
If you are using it as a fogger I would only use it for a snake that has RI, we don't have enough information yet on F10 to know what will happen long term.

as a fogger to ensure any beginning stages of RI are taken care of as a preventative there has been a large outbreak of RI in my area there is one pet store that was completely wiped out the one I got my pythons from to be exact we had one of our pythons die from it despite all efforts and I want to prevent any beginning stages because this strand is taking less than 72 hours to kills from initial signs the vet here took cultures and is having them analyzed but it apperently is a very strong and nasty strain

I am crazy fussy, clearly. I suspect that any good soap or detergent will replace the f10scdx (which is a detergent with some version of f10 added or something along thoes lines. The bioslime remover I rarely use as I clean too often to ever get bioslime. But it and the rest of line of f10 come from the distributer (europe and the americs) John berry. The UK website will ship np I live in Canada and for me it is cheaper ( ) to get it from UK that the US I pay less in shipping and better pricing. they always seem to toss in a bonus too (long time customer of theirs)
here is the web site.

they also have great lizard things too I have the dried flower batches they sell I rehydrate some for my dragon. ( http://www.bigreptileworld.co.uk/ber...ducts-14-c.asp)
It sounds like you have the Q covered boas and pythons are a bit sketchy as boas can carry IBD for years and transfer it to pythons. with known animals and trusted people I think a bit relaxed is ok but new animals I again might give serious though to IBD testing . Sadly it is costly 100$ for the test and then the prep to have it shipped is often close to that again. But it is one of the concerns there is little known about it. The new research suggests it could have a longer than previously expected incubation time in pythons and may not kill quickly as once believed. I believe most of the cases in pythons are unconfirmed and more likely poisoning from mite treatments, but that is a guess. There is research for boas but not in pythons so it is all guess work currently. I assume the worst and plan according to keep my animals safe I see no reason to take risks.
The QT is to ensure the boas and Pythons are not in the same room they will never be housed together and never be out together and we always sanitize before moving from one breed of snake to the next I don't need to do IBD testing it has already been done.
