Last little pied of 2012 FINALLY ATE.

He finally ate! This pied hatched on Sept 12. He spat out several assist attempts in November, finally swallowed a frozen/thawed fuzzy two weeks ago, and then went back to spitting them out again last week.

But this week he actually hunted AND killed AND ate a live hopper! And now he kinda looks... hungry?

Every single clutch I've hatched has had one wannabe-vegetarian. And out of the 5 refusers, 4 of them were boys, and the one girl only refused for an extra two weeks before she started eating. Is it mostly a boy thing?

Anyway, as of this weekend, all of my babies are officially eating on their own. WHEW.

    On to the next season...

Why does it always gotta be the pied? Or the pewter? (It wasn't always the fancy one---some of the hets were doing it too. But this little guy was stressing me out EXTRA because he was a pied.)

Re: Last little pied of 2012 FINALLY ATE.

when I got my pied female I had to wait like 4 months because she wouldn't eat for the breeder I got her from. Finally started eating and I got her at like 180g at 8 months old. Since Ive had her shes never refused a meal and now is up to 530g. Still a little small for her age but packing it on nicely. sometimes the stubborn eaters in the beginning become my best eaters.
