    My Brazilian Rainbow Boa

I've had my BRB for over 2 months now and noticed he never uses the side of the tank with the heating pad. I read that temperatures over 85 can be dangerous for them. Does he need his heating pad? Would it be best to set the heating pad around 83 and keep the enclosure around 75?

It may be too hot for him. Do you have a temp gun to see what the surface temp of the hot side is?

    Re: My Brazilian Rainbow Boa

I have a thermostat. It was set to 90, which is probably too hot for him even if it is only in one area. I haven't found anywhere what temperature the hot side should be.

    Re: My Brazilian Rainbow Boa

I have that care sheet book marked. But thanks for still bringing it up though. Based on this, should I keep a heating pad that is 83 degrees and the actual tank around 77? It doesn't say whether or not he needs one. He does have a humidity chamber that is most likely a different temperature than the rest of his cage. I set the thermostat to 83 to see how he likes that.

Yeah I would leave the warm end around 83-84

My guy hangs out on the cool end most of the time.
