    Tea anyone?

Since getting more involved with my Buddhist beliefs I have been drinking tea as many times a day as I can; because its been said that tea helps with digestion and overall calms the mind and body.

I really wish there was a traditional Japanese or Chinese food shop in my area, as I would really like to get my hands in the pure organic green teas such as the Sencha and Gyokuro teas.

I currently have been drinking Tazo brand 'lotus' and 'zen' teas but still like experimenting with different taste.

Just wondering if there are any tea connoisseurs or avid tea drinkers on here.

Always looking to try something new or get some ideas on where to get the rarer teas.

    Cheers,
    Kevin

I never really developed a taste for green and white teas, but I'm a big fan of black and red teas. Earl Grey and Lady grey are good (Lady grey is a little more citrus-y). Its hard to go wrong with most types of rooibos, and regular chai (black tea with milk and cardamom) is always great. See if there's any tea shops in your area? I'm in the NW 'burbs of Chicago and we've got a chain called Teavana out here which is pretty snazzy, as well as a good number of little tea shops. Teavana's website has a shopping section too, so its worth having a look even if they don't have any shops in your area.

I've never really ventured from green or black teas. I really want to try some whites and oolong varieties. I also quite enjoy the taste of anything with peppermint or spearmint leaves infused in so I'd like to find some more varieties with those infused as well.

I will have to do some searching to see if there are any tea shops around.

Have you gotten into loose leaf brewing at all? I have a large cuiraffe that I received as a gift from an Afghan intelligence officer that I worked with. Add tea leaves, add boiling water, wait 10 minutes, pour into a glass. You tend to get a lot of tea leaves coming out into the glass but it is still delicious. I have drank more tea in 9 months here than I've drank in the rest of my life combined! If you get into brewing with loose leaf, just add mint leaves to it and you should be good to go!

I love Thai tea, prefferably with tapioca in it!
I also like chai, and lightly steeped mint tea.

Have you tried yerba mate? It's a rainforest plant that's very caffeinated and I've enjoyed the mate tad I've tried.

I love all teas but I was especially impressed with loose leaf teas. There's one I had from Teavana called morning mate that had yerba mate, chocolate pieces, chili peppers, and I'm not sure but it tasted almost coffee like and was delicious.

I love tea!! My favourite "generic" teas are chai and assam, but if you're looking for some really special, amazing tea, I would order some from Tchaba. The tea is amazing, all kinds of flavours, loose-leaf, tied off in a gorgeous silk bag.

I really want to get into some loose leaf teas. I've been reading up on equipment and such, I'll have to be getting the necessities. From what I've read loose leaf is 100x better than lousy bags.

I've also been reading the proper temps and steep times. I never knew there was a difference.

I've been drinking some kind of Easy Going or Keep Calm tea or something like that. I forget what the exact name is but it's an awesome blend of chamomile, lavender, cat nip and other things. It tastes really good and when I'm really stressed I sit down with a cup of that. If you can't find specific teas your looking for locally I'd suggest checking online. I'm lucky and have tons of tea places and other shops locally.
