the t2i is a great camera and is really on par with the t3i i think the only major difference is the t3i has the rear flip out screen i would not hesitate to get a t2i and use the extra money one would save for some lenses.
the t4i has some upgrades to the photo side of the camera and some more on the video side so for sure it is a better camera but i went with the t3i because it was in stock and from what i read the upgrades for someone like me who is new to it all are something i probably would not need at this time or even notice a difference if i did use them. now if your a seasoned veteran and well versed in cameras you would probably want/need those new upgrades but it is definitely not a deal breaker.
as far as lenses i would say get the t2i/t3i or t4i with the 2 lens kit and it should come with the 18-55 lens and a 55-250,
a good lense is a 50mm f1.8 which is about 100-125.00$ or the 50mm f1.4 which is about 350.00 the difference in picture quality/ and build quality is better with the 50mm f1.4 but to some people the 50mm f1.8 is just fine for 1/3rd the price
the next lens i would look at is the 100mm macro lens for your real close up shots
and also they have a 40mm pancake lens i think its main use is for the video side but i could be wrong i have not looked at much info for the video side of my camera yet.
i am starting with the t3i and the 18-55 kit lense cause i just didnt have the extra for the 2 lens kit plus i dont want to get ahead of my learning curve
so im just shooting and shooting until i learn how to use my camera then i will throw some more lenses in the mix. im thinking my next camera purchase will actually be a good flash and then a lens later down the road. good luck
as far as the four pics i posted sorry no gaboons here i did have anawesome shot of one that was for sale at the show but lost it in the crash.
the first is my blood python second pic is two copperhead's cant remember what they were im thinking broadbanded copperheads maybe one was a southern
and those last two are a canebrake rattlesnake
