Another 1st for me in keeping snakes...

I was curious as to why one of my new breeding size females had tipped over the water bowl in her tub today, so I checked on her. There she was, curled up in the bowl. There they were, crawling around her tub.... mites.

I've made a quick trip to Wally World for distilled water, NIX, and a spray bottle - those little buggers won't know what hit them.

I had her in QT with two others, so I'm glad for that. But as I live in a place the size of a 15 qt. tub, all of my friends will soon be treated.

Oh, and a big thanks to everyone on this forum who has posted on how to get rid of them!

Get some PAM. Mites are the worst, PAM has been the only thing that has completely knocked them out for me.

My understanding is that it's the same active ingredient - permethrin.

If there are any more living mites, I assure you, they aren't happy.

You dont spray the snake, you treat the enclosure.

PAM= Prevent-a-Mite. it's a spray for mites. not the cooking spray like i think you may have been thinking. lol don't go spray your snakes tub with cooking spray.

Lol as said above provent a mite, not cooking spray. But neither should ever be sprayed directly on the animal.

NIX works awesome. It's cheaper and safer for the snake. Go with it. I did and mites we gone after the first treatment.
