Why do so many people GIVE THE BP such a BAD NAME?

Or make it seem as if they are the most dangerous snakes on earth?

Many people hear/see the word "python" and panic. The people that do this are ignorant of the differences between the species, or even of anything beyond what mass media and their grandmothers tell them. It really has nothing to do with BPs specifically, just snakes in general.

People I know are not bothered if i was to say I have a Corn snake, then when you say Ball PYTHON they are like eww, how can you keep them.. so basically what Anna is saying.
Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened.

Mr Brute, you can always remind them that there are good snakes in the bible as well. Look up, Moses and his staff. Also, the "python" makes people who are unfamiliar with Ball Pythons think of Burmese Pythons and other large snakes. That coupled with the sensationalism in the media around snakes, just feeds fears.

God had to pick the coolest animal to tempt them with in the garden of eden. No one would have been eating any apples if it was an opossum trying to tempt them...

In my experience most people don't seem to realize that there are other pythons besides what they see in their mind as some 25' baby-eating burmese python. In fact, some people seem to assume that all pet snakes will grow to be some kind of enormous monster. I can't tell you how many times I've had to assure people that my hognose actually will stay pretty small. Though for the record, I would totally love a giant one
