Liar, Liar Pants on Fire!
I got a call at work late this afternoon. It was our friendly local prosecutor calling to remind me that I need to be in court at 8:50 in the a.m.
What the who?!
I had no idea what she was talking about, so I was like, "I have no idea what you're talking about." Apparently I was subpoenaed last month to testify against some punk-A kid who tried to sell stolen gold to me at work. I've skipped out on jury duty twice (I'm pretty sure they don't come after you, they're just trying to scare you. Seriously, two times!), but I would never have the royals to skip out on a subpoena.
Wrong address. Yeah, I bet they could find me if I failed to pay a speeding ticket or some crap like that. Anywhooo...
This douchebag kid says he was never in our store. So now I have to get up at 6 in the morning, on the day I don't work until noon, to go tell the judge what he already knows, that the punk's lying. Nice.
I hope he fries.

Just so you know...in many many localities and states in the US...skipping on jury duty is chargeable offense...and in some areas carries heavy fines and/or short jail times as you can be charged with contempt of court and a few other things.

Yeah, I know. The last time was five years ago and I was busy. I'll probably call in next time.

I'm probably more likely to grab him by the ear, march him across the room and very sternly say, "You apologize to your grandmother! NOW!"
It depends on whether or not I have time for my morning coffee/cigarette. I'm not a morning person as it is, and I REALLY love my noon day! I feel violated!

I get myself into enough trouble. It's mostly nonsense though. In reality, I'm a giant baby. I'll be all, "yes, ma'am," and then spend the next 6 months being paranoid that I've got a mob hit out on me. Snitches end up in ditches, right?
