Bought a big female at the Daytona expo but having trouble feeding.

I went to the Daytona expo last month and left with a large breeder 100% het albino girl from Chad at CK Snakes. She has refused 3 meals now and I'm a little worried. When I asked what she eats he said hairless mice because he is allergic but didn't give it much though. The first 2 times I tried to feed her a prekilled Jumbo by first dangling it then dropping it in. She went right to it and smelled and seemed interested in it but then just left it alone. Today I gave her a live rat pup and she did the same thing, checked it out and then just stared at me.

I have 2 other hogs which I got as babies and are excellent feeders. They take it right out of my hand or off of the ground in seconds so Im not used to this one not feeding. I mostly have BPs and I know they can go for a while without eating but im not sure about Hogs. How many missed feedings until you would be really worried and any tips to get her to eat? I didn't know if the hairless thing would make a big difference in the snakes eyes and im not sure where to get hairless mice even if I wanted.

    Thanks!

The hairless thing could make a difference. Some snakes prefer certain color mice/rats only. Try getting your hands on a hairless one and see if that makes a difference.

I've had issues with both of my hoggies at various times.. just sort of seems like them going off feed on me. I have had best results when keeping them warmer and in dark tubs with carefresh bedding.

In the end, offering weekly is what's worked for me, they eventually got over their feeding strikes and got hungry enough to eat.

We did no response. And I think at the expo he breed hairless himself because he has allergies. :/

She has still not eaten and is currently 445 grams. I don't know if its the time of the year. I don't know if I need to give her hides. Lower the temps. Breed her or what. She just licks and licks the mouse but won't bite it. She won't take it if its been left in the cage either

Mine just seem to go on food strikes like others have stated. I would continue to try to contact the breeder, try to get your hands on a hairless mouse, and just keep offering weekly. Keep us updated but its common for hogs to be a little.."spiteful" and not eat

She still hasn't eaten. Today she looks a little skinny and has loose skin where her body curves/ bends. I'm starting to get more worried about her now.
