You know what's also pretty interesting? My hatchling only eats f/t when the rat is NOT wet. If the rats dry she gobbles them up, but when it's wet completely ignores it... Sigh all those ziplock baggies. I guess the wet rats don't smell as much?

Very useful post, I appreciate you uploading this. Pretty amazing that she would take that much food back to back.

Intersting video but there is NO difference between a rat and a mouse other than size.
This is also how many people "power feed" their snakes to bulk them up faster.

Well I always try to give appropriate size rat+mouse combo , I don't want to power feed my animals. Also with differene between rats and mice, I noticed that when I switch from mice to rats, they start growing faster (even when I give same size rats and mice). I don't know maybe it's a coincidence, but this happened with 3 snakes I switched from mice to rats - I don't know why but those are my observations . Maybe it's only in my mind that they grow faster on rats - I don't know .

Re: When snakes do not eat frozen thawed...
Thanks for posting. Does this help them take frozen without a live starter after a few times, or is this a lifelong thing you have to do with them?

I just can't imagine stuffing another rodent in my snakes face when he is trying to eat. Why not just let them eat live?

I have a male pastel thats 1300g and has been a mouser his whole life, BTW he is going in 2 years old.
I just feed live till he is done.
I feed most of the other 33 live rats, I only have 2 or 3 that will take f/t.
