"Temperature spike" question, sort of, during breeding season...

I remember I read somewhere where someone said that he had a temperature spike during the cooling and caused his ball pythons to ovulate early or something like that, ultimately leading to failure to breed anything that year. I can't for the life of me find that post again, nor am I even sure it was from this forum.

This is my first year breeding, and I think that it is reasonable that I may make some mistakes. I did not have a "temperature spike" per se, but I have a habit whereby I have an empty tub in a rack where I put my snakes in when I change their tub newspaper and clean it out. I have kept doing that too with my cooled breeding snakes. I forgot that tub is HEATED. Same as usual 90F or so on the hot end which due to it being a smaller tub is 1/3 of the area.

Not all have been in there since breeding started, and those that have have been in there one or twice at most, and for no more than 2 to 4 minutes. I just put them in there, change the paper, wipe the tub and put them back. Will this cause a bad effect?

PS - Another question, now that I have done a little more research just now, I read that people are saying to never let any snake during breeding season come into contact with anything above 82F? But I was advised by two very big breeders to keep ambient temps at 75 - 77, and give a 12 hour a day hot spot of 85 or so?

I just also watched a video by Justin K with his comments below saying that while he does lower the ambient temperatures, he leaves the heat tape temperature 24/7 at 90F throughout breeding season? And he's pretty successful so I am presuming that the never let them feel 82 or over is untrue?

The past two years my ambient temps have lowered naturally during the breeeing season but never lowered hot spot... stays around 90 year round and have had pretty good success... Would like to hear some more experienced breeders opinions as well though..

I don't cool my snakes. Hot spot is the same year round. Just the ambient changes with the seasonal change.
Some people cool, some don't. Both can result in successful clutches.

In my opinion, lowering temps is an unnecessary extra step and asking for RI.
Lots of people have avoided it, but some haven't. And I would rather not risk it.
