I think the worse thing you could do is remain friends with her in hopes that it will turn into something more. If you want to stay friends, accept the rejection and move on from it. If you can't accept it, then cease contact. I've had a few guys remain friends with me for the sole purpose of trying to wear me down and win me over, and it only really lead to resentment on their part and hurt feelings on my part when I figured it out.
