(Know you ment the question for the other person ha) He has taught me how to blacksmith and has told me the best way to get into it is to buy a anvil and a small smithy then start on small things first I learned how to make nails and the things that hold up shelves once you learn how to do the easy stuff you slowly add more like I can make a decent knife now well couple years ago haven't tried in a while. Check at your community college sometimes local black smiths will have a class that's apart from the college it's so much fun learning black smithing tho if your creative I recommend it

Good advice...When I was living back at the parents place I spent a year taking welding courses just to start off...I'd love to get into black smithing eventually..dont have the time or space right now (small house with 3 other housemates). I will definitely have to look into the area...Winchester, VA is definitely not the DC metro area so things are a bit more limited in offerings out here...
