    Het Pied Markers and Normals

Can normals have het pied markers without being het pied? My female normal has the "markers" but since I have zero background on her (she was a rescue), I have no way of knowing if she's het pied. I had just assumed she was a regular normal, nothing special, but I had a friend who thought she might be het pied because of them. I'm reluctant to believe that. Do I have a reason to be skeptical? I want to get a visual male eventually, but probably not for a year or two (I want to upgrade my racks and thermostats and buy me a deep freezer for rodents before purchasing more animals), so pairing her with a visual male when she's up to size next season is really out of the question.

I believe the markers are only a general indication of what maybe a het pied, used to pick the most likely out of a clutch os possible hets. Having said that, some hets will have markers some not, and some normals can have what looks to be markers. So I would say that without any background knowledge of said snake, the chance of it being het is slim, but of course is not out of the realm if possiblities.

Re: Het Pied Markers and Normals

That's what I figured. I've always had plans to breed her to a visual to get hets once I got my visual male to make some hets, but as I said, that won't happen until I can upgrade all my equipment to the best of the best.

I think the easiest way to tell would be trying to prove it out with a visual pied, might be worth a shot and if nothing comes out at least you will have het pieds as a result! Good luck
