Head shed now what?!?!

My snakes husbandry is right and begun to shed last night. This morning I noticed that his head shed and ripped off and now he has stopped shedding the rest of the way. Should I do anything to help him or let him be?

Does he have a full body stuck shed then? If so I'd put him in a damp and slightly warm pillow case inside a tub/container and let him be for 20-30 minutes and see how much he works off himself. You can aid him by letting him move through a damp towel/wash cloth too. The pillowcase way makes it easier for him to remove stuck eye caps if he has retained any too.

I really am not sure if it is a stuck shed or not because he has always shed in one whole piece. I will try the pillow case trick and see how he makes out.

You could just soak him in a tub of warm water for about 30-60 minutes. If the shed isn't stuck it won't hurt either way so not big deal.

Pillow cases are unnecessary

Use a tub with a lid
1 to 1 1/2 inches of 88 degree water(measure with probed thermometer)
hand towel in the bottom

Soak 30 minutes and replace with more 88 degree water and soak another 30 minutes.

Shed should slide right off, if not use a damp towel to assist it.

I would check your humidity, stuck sheds happen because the humidity is low.

I held him in a damp warm towel for about a half hour and then worked it down a little. He ended up going into his tank and working the rest off by himself. I think because of the way it ripped, he wasn't able to work it off by himself so once it got started he was fine. Thanks again for the advice!
