    Flex watt Size

Greetings. I am in the planning stages of building my second rack, and I wanted to get some experienced opinions on flexwatt sizes. I have one small rack that holds 28qt tubs with 4" tape and it seems to work great. My next rack will have 41qt tubs. I see a lot of people use 4" for this size as well. Even if the heat radiates out a couple of inches to each side, doesn't that seem like a tight hot spot for an adult snake? Does anybody use 11" for 41qt? Also, I have been using 17" on a single 41qt. It was recommended to me as it is the same wattage as the 11" but spread out for a more even heat. Any thoughts on this? Just gathering opinions. Thanks.

I personally would use 11" flexwatt (along with a good thermostat of course)

I would use 11'' for 41 quart tubs. 4'' is going to be way too small, the snake will have a very small space to lay on if she wants to be warmer. Plus if you only have 4'' flexwatt you will probably have to heat your room a lot more to keep the cool side from dropping too low.

I actually am doing a similar project and was deciding between 4" vs. 11" as well. My additional question based on the 11" concensus....how long ? I'm thinking about 7-8 inches because that would be about 30% of the floor length of a 41qt. Sterilite tub. Is that about right ?
