    Empty Tank Syndrome Strikes Again

I bought a 40 gallon breeder tank at a garage sale for 10 bucks a couple weeks ago. The previous occupant was a Dumeril's boa, but now that I have it I'd like to put something else in it, specifically some sort of lizard. So far I've made a tentative list:

    • Blue-Tongued Skink - the local pet shop sold their beardie and now one of these cuties in its place, and it is a-dora-ble. Plus my mom loves them.
    • European Legless Lizard - I've always found these more appealing than snakes, not quite sure why. Certainly not one of the often-kept species.
    • Ornate Uromastyx - the aforementioned pet shop just picked up two CB babies of these. Aside from being cute now, those adult colors are stunning.

I'm open for suggestions, so suggest away

I know very little about legless lizards, but a 40 breeder is a bare minimum for a blue tongue or uro, and I personally like to give intelligent lizards like those more space. Personally, I would go with a schneiders skink( I own one!) or a colony of female leopard or fat-tailed geckos. Or, turn it vertically and get a leachianus gecko! Can't beat the biggest gecko in the world!

This is coming from a person who is deathly afraid of lizards, but I think blue tounged skinks are super cute!

Blue Tongue would be my vote but then again I don't have much experience with the other two. I think Uromastyx are awesome but I've never had one. Blue tongues are personable, cute, and very easy to maintain.

    Thanks guys.

Recently I've opened up to a couple other ideas...

    • Collared Lizard - they seem pretty nice to care for, and they have some cool colors on them too. I can also get one easily, as the continually aforementioned pet shop also has one of these (it's a good pet shop ).
    • Steppe Runners - I know that people say you can keep them in a ten gallon, but I've been reading up and I gather that they're really active. Easy care, handleable, great personalities, reasonable price - what other good attributes are there?
    • Emerald Swift - an often-seen, seldom-thriving lizard that I've always had a soft spot for. This size tank should easily be able to keep one or two happy.
    • Bearded Dragon - because you can't go wrong with another one.

Of course, if you think another lizard would be suitable don't hesitate to suggest it. This tank needs some critters in it
