Male interested in some females, not others.

I have a 13 month old 650 gram male bumblebee that has been producing sprem plugs for a few months now. I had been pairing him with my 2000g proven female Pastel starting a couple months ago. He seemed completely uninterested and has not shown any interest in her. I decided to try him with one of my 1300g female Pastels and saw a lock within 24 hours. I paired him with the smaller female again the next week and saw another lock. This week I tried him again with the 2000g female and again have not seen any interest. At first I thought he was just still not ready to breed yet but confuses me that he locks with the smaller female? Any ideas on what might be going on here?

Could be the female is not interested in him. I had a couple of girls like this last year and they never bred with the Male I wanted to pair them with so I had to go with another male.

Re: Male interested in some females, not others.

    This drives me nuts.

I have a lesser male who is, frankly, a bit too fussy about which ladies he likes.

I have had some success in putting both females in the same tub then introducing him. He's locked up with the "wrong" female twice so far but don't tell him.

I thought it might be her doing... Just too bad because he is the only male I really want to pair her with this year.

God I hope this doesn't happen to me. I only want to have 3 snakes so if I miss a breeding season altogether because of a picky female I would be upset.
