    Tub System Help :)

    Hi,

So I'm switching my snakes over to a tub system and I want to know EXACTLY what items I need including UTH's, connections, rheostats, etc. I'm going to Walmart and PetsUnlimited for the supplies (I live in Nova Scotia). If you'd like to let me know of any precautions, that'd be great too. Please be detailed! Thanks!

This thread goes over the basics: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...e-Basics-*DUW*

You will need to get a thermostat to control the UTH. Don't waste your monsy on the junk sold in pet stores.

    Here are 3 good thermostats:

    Budget: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000NZZG3S

    Mid-Range: http://www.reptilebasics.com/ranco-etc-111000-pre-wired

    Best: http://spyderrobotics.com/home/products.html

Keep in mind that the cool side of the tub will be about the temperature of the room it is in. This means that the room needs to be heated to at least 75 degrees year round.

Are you building your own rack? What are you planning on using for the shelving?

Rack setups are pretty easy, but you probably won't be able to find everything you need in a physical store.

A good reptile thermostat is hard to come by in an actual store. I would recommend buying one online. I'm a big fan of the herpstat.

As for heating, most people use flexwatt because its cheap and sold by the foot. You can use regular heat mats, but it will be much more expensive.

Tubs are totally your call. I prefer the ones that don't have many groves on the inside so they are easy to clean.
