I voted! Have You?

Folks. I am not going to start a discussion about who should be President. I just want to say that if you are eligible to vote, then get out there and do so. It is our responsibility as American citizens to excersize the right to vote. We owe it to ourselves, and those people who defend our right to do so everyday with their lives. I won't name names but there are many on this forum alone, and I wish to thank them for their service which allows me the freedom to vote and without the threat of persecution.

There is too much at stake in this election for anyone to sit back and be complacent. If I am not mistaken, there is a chance that two Supreme Court Justices may be selected in this administration. They may or may not hear a case in the future that would effect our right to keep reptiles throughout this great nation. They will be appointed by the Chief Executive Office (President) so Yes, your vote matters. Do your part and God Bless America.

Ha. It'll stop feeling special pretty soon when the disappointment sets in. Even if the person you voted for wins, I can just about promise you you'll end up disappointed by them in some way. That said, voting is something you just have to do, because without voting, you lose the right to complain about the results.

I'm not really sure that this is true. I think if someone doesn't vote then they can complain about the results because they chose not to choose. However if you vote for someone and they get in, you really can't complain about what that politician does, afterall, you voted for him. Also, if you vote but your candidate doesnt get in, you still really can't complain too much because you did vote for "someone" which means that you believe in the system as a whole and are willing to accept that your candidate not getting in is part of the system.

I felt special mainly because I was finally of age to vote. It's like a right of passage, I was only 16 when the last election was held. So I felt privileged. .

But let me say this please don't go and vote if haven't read up on both candidates (and I mean past that partisan news media crap) blind voting doesn't benefit anyone. It only takes 30-40 minutes of research to get an understanding on what the candidates stand for. If you can't be bothered to do that you don't deserve to vote.
