Re: Bad Guy Shane Porter, Broken ribs, RIs, underweight :(

I would definitely start a paypal dispute with this matter. In my opinion, no reputable breeder will sell a snake and not be sure of the weights. Also, what kind of breeder doesn't have their own scale? I feel for ya. It is transactions like this that make it more difficult for small to mid level breeders to make it in this business. Good luck!

Lots of pictures incoming. Talked to Kathy on facebook and got permission to post. Here we go:

    First up, Packaging / box:

The snakes, On the scale (Remember, he stated these snakes were 1800-3000g) :

And lastly, the x-rays of the broken ribs:

I think that is everything, if I forgot or missed something important Kathy please let me know.

Wow, those poor babies. That shipping box, no insulation, or cushioning...

I wouldnt even consider that acceptable packaging for a non-animal purchase. The box came half opened like that?
That is absolutely disgusting. I couldnt imagine ever shipping a snake like that.

I've been following this on the BOI. I'm glad these babies are now with you, where they will be properly cared for.

Reading Shane's posts are shocking, and I definitely would never be doing business with him.

The shipping is deplorable. There is NO excuse for that sort of shipping. No insulation means that heat pack was useless and no padding means the snakes were tossed around inside. And he's wrong, the "live shipments" do go cargo as far as I'm aware. That's why we always use the special shipping packaging so that they are protected during the trip.

That said, you should be able to insist on a full refund and you return the snakes. Asking for a partial refund where you keep the snakes is less correct. I know he said at one point you could return them for a refund but said you'd pay the return shipping. Since the animals are not as advertised, he should pay return shipping as well.

He definitely is trying to screw you over. I would discount the broken ribs, since snake ribs are easy to break and no way to tell if that happened before or during shipping. The RI, the WAY off weights on at least two and the lousy(possibly illegal) shipping is grounds for a full refund BUT, you'd return the snakes.

Someone should also contact SYR, since he apparently shipped using them but shipped ignoring ALL the information about how to ship properly. They might ban him from using their service in the future.

If it were me I would file a claim with pay pal ASAP and cancel payment via cc (if its all the same deal sorry). That is clearly waton disregard for the welfare of the snakes in general and shipping wise. What a POS human (not you!). I am glad those babies are in a loving caring home now.
