Both of these AR's a way beyond illegal in NJ.
There are not adjustable stocks allowed, no flash suppressor, 15rd capacity, the list goes on. We are only allowed 2 "Evil Features" they consider a removable magazine an evil feature, and also the pistol grip..... Yea hoping to once again move out of this state I call home.

Yes. It was done with Aervoe (sp) paint, which is like Krylon but much more durable.

It is TEN rounds max here and you have to use a tool to drop the magazine (bullet button), but no issues with the stock or grip in this format. You can have a detachable magazine if no pistol grip.

Nice! I would suggest though for home defense you should upgrade to something with real stopping power. Such as a .40 or .45. 9m is not much of a defense weapon. It doesn't have very much stopping power.

My home defense 20 gauge with a choke that has a nice spray, if I'm feeling nice I have rock salt shot or good old bird shot if I'm feeling frisky. An AR is on the list of guns I want but I'm getting a 45 hand gun first

Personally I go for the larger bores myself. I use a 40 Glock as a carry and a Springfield XD 45 for home defense. Everyone has their personal choice I just like the idea of making a bigger hole. Not to step on anyone's choice but the shotgun is really not a great home defense weapon. Granted it will stop anything but in close quarters it is hard to work with.

As for more rounds in the 9, how many do you need? Don't misunderstand I'm not knocking you but there is more than enough in my 40 or 45 for any home invasion. It only takes one or two to take out an intruder and even if you miss a couple of times there's still plenty left.

As someone else mentioned it's all about shot placement anyway with either weapon. Even the 38 Special will drop a man pretty quick.

I live in a trailer house that's kinda simple that's why I like my shotgun very thin walls and just on long hallway more or less an till I get my pistol at tax time it's my best choice for now I could use my black powder gun it's a fifty caliber magnum, but reload time is a big problem there.

Nice guns everyone. Not to kick a dead horse but back on the pistol subject...In reality the defenses people give for the 9mm are accurate and well put, but as a shooter I have a personal belief that to master a larger caliber handgun first is the way to go. Not only should it be done for the sake of mastering a skill, but doing it first will make the lower calibers feel more like toys which in turns gives you the mentality to learn them at more ease than working up through the calibers.

My next purchase for a pistol will likely be some make of 1911 in .40 cal or 45 ACP and then a revolver .44MAG....then maybe after that a nice 9mm like a beretta 9sf.

What I'm really trying to buy right now though is a introductory O/U shottie. the only one really in my price range is the new Mossberg Silver Reserve II's. The SR I got pretty badly mixed reviews sadly to say but it does happen with brand new gun lines from time to time and it was expected from a budget double barrel. That being said they have been noted to have fixed their problems, mainly firing pins breaking and have had decent reviews since after 08-09ish it seems. These new SR II recently hit the market in JULY and I can find squat on any kind of review on them. I emailed mossberg ackowledging their poor initial performace and they assure me the line has been doing well for them...

Then everyone says save for a B gun. Hah. I'll think about it depending on what price my gun guy can get me. The thing is he already got me a quote for the SR II field with ejectors for $610 out the door which is a steal imo for a introductory O/U with a full 5 sporting set choke, walnut stock and ejectors. silver engravings kinda corny but meh.

I mean it's probably no citori? it might be close? and I can buy a decent handgun or be close to one with the money I saved on not buying a B gun?

Ahhh decisions.

I am located in Cali so pistol shooting is what is more readily available compared to shotgun shooting but it is around.

Oh on another note I kinda don't prefer AR's. I think in terms in home defense shotguns and pistols would serve better in terms of functionality. And then distance shooting I prefer bolt action rifles, and if I were not in Cali than a PSG-1.

man! That is some sweet looking machinery. That's one thing I hate about Canada, it's very very difficult to own ANY firearms. Especially handguns.
