This, but more extreme. There is no instance in anything where I feel short hand or text talk is okay when conversing either in person or over technology with anyone. For me, it is rude (you can't take the time to type crap out?) because you don't really care about the conversation and it is lazy because someone using it is so uneducated that they have to do it (Who needs grammar when you have swag, right?).

I also have a big problem with over punctuation. I was at my doc's office yesterday and they had a sign, literally that was like this (In all caps, but I'll take 'em off):

Please turn

Your cell phone

off please..

Thank you!!!!!

I almost flipped out. One, the ellipse was one period too short (instead of one long, like most people use it) and then an unnecessary amount of exclamation points? I wanted to say," You work for a freaking university, there is a writing center not five minutes from here I'm sure they can help you figure your stuff out".

I just make a point to be as professional as possible when conversing orally or through text. For me, it's a general stick of intelligence. And, more often than not, I type the way I speak. So, being from the south, we have y'all and 'em and what not but that is just culture for me.
