    Odd climbing behavior

My albino BP seems to climb one side of my PVC enclosure and wedge himself up in between the fluorescent light fixture and the side or front of the enclosure. He then drops--thud. He does this almost every night. Other than some marks on his scales from doing it over and over, he's happy and healthy.

Anyone experience this and should I be concerned about injury? Not sure if I can rig the enclosure to change it. Thanks.

My 1100 gram male does this too. He'll wedge himself on a ledge above the glass door of his Vision cage.. From what I've heard it's just something they do..?

No there is no problem just make sure there is nothing sharp he will get cut on and it is fine I am assuming he is eating regularly? If not there could be husbandry issues at the heart but if he is it is fairly common during the CITES study one of the 200 odd pythons studied was collected from a tree. This has been observed by the on going predator studies being done by an italian team they have collected a number from trees. The italian team has even mentioned re-classing.

Thanks for the replies. He eats great and is otherwise healthy. His skin is a bit marked from wedging himself so much but not cut.

just be sure there is nothing he can be really hurt on by falling and keep an eye on temps and such but past that there is nothing to be done it sounds like he is fine just busy.

We have two in a divided AP T8 - they BOTH do this. One of them (Recon) learned how to knock the light down and escape, so we took it apart and moved the lights back so they couldn't get up there anymore. (Until we had time to fix it, we left the light hanging with the escape route covered rather than worry about him hurting himself, and he just chilled on it like a GTP - he even ate on it. We have video. It was amusing.) Now they're constantly trying to figure out how to hang somewhere else - the smaller one (Houdini) will wedge himself between the dam and the glass doors or in the top corner between the light, tank side, and Accurite so he can hang. Houdini's been climbing things since the day we got him, so we'd expected it from him. Recon was the oddball. xD
