    Lock up's with same sex???!??

I know this may sound like a weird question but I'll ask anyway, is it possible for two male/female ball pythons to lock during breading season. The reason I asked is I have a questionable female and before I put it with a male or two I didn't want to waste time if I saw a mimic lock (dominance) lock up. I'm a new breeder but I've had ball pythons since the late 90's. Thanks in advance for the time!

Males will lock will males. They often wrestle first, because they both want their tail underneath. But bored horny males will pair up and lock together repeatedly in the absence of a female.

So no, a lock is not definitive. You need a qualified herp vet or breeder to probe to confirm it's a female.

I have also had males lock for long periods of time without fighting. Those silly over eager boys are usually the best breeders! Throw in a hot dog and they'll lock it

Males will lock males (been there years ago) but I've never seen a female try to lock up a male or another female.
I'm not sure it's in them to do so.

thanks for the info, it's always good to hear from people who've had the same issues and what they've learned from them!
