New baby Bumblebee! Nervous newbie
Hi everyone! I'm new to snakes but not new to reptiles...I've had many in the past and currently have a zoo at home. Being a vet tech doesn't help keep my pet population from growing LOL. I have 3 dogs, 1 cat, 5 bearded dragons and my new addition is Severus my little bumblebee BP! I'm so excited he's finally here and sooo beautiful. When I opened the box, I seriously thought WOW..this doesn't even LOOK like a BP! LOL. He's from American Made Exotics and is 85 grams right now. I have to find out the age, I forgot to ask his hatch date (any guesses?)
He came yesterday, and is scared to death of me. He's been hanging out in the warm side's cave. I did pull him out once to show my boyfriend, and placed him by the water bowl. He drank for quite a long time and then explored a little. I want to watch him and hold him so badly but I know I have to wait and he's really stressed. Do you think I should offer him food this weekend? His last meal was at the breeder about a week ago. I just don't know if he's too stressed to eat, but I guess there's only one way to find out
These are some really crappy pics, they don't do him justice. I didn't want to scare him anymore than I had to, so I just snapped these really quickly with my phone. Feel free to critique the cage or anything. I could use any tips from anyone. (The dome fixture on the left is a ceramic heat emitter, and the strip light is not in use, was an old BD cage).

Awesome little guy
I just got a new little pastel and I waited about 4 days after she came home to feed her, and she was hungry! She took 2 hoppers right away. I think it just depends on the snake, but there is no harm in trying. If he doesnt take it just wait a few more days and try again, if hes hungry he should eat.
Good Luck
Also mine didnt like me very much at first either but I held her frequently for small amounts of time and shes really coming around!

A great looking Bumble Bee! I would wait at least 4-5 days before handling and/or offering food.

Congrats on your new snake, i will say your hides leave much to be desired though, especially that log. Ideally your hides should be identical, smaller, and more secure. Reptile Basics hides are great: http://www.reptilebasics.com/hide-boxes . Cheap, easy to clean, makes the snake feel super secure, perfect sizes, etc. I have my new Honeybee in a 15qt. Sterilite with 2 of the small hides and he's doing amazingly. Your tank also looks a bit big, so i'd try add a bit more clutter if possible.

Nathan - thanks for the link. I'll order him one as soon as I can. I know the cage is big...I can section off part of it if it needs to be done. He's actually out of his hide right now and exploring the cage a bit more. Climbing on his fake plants and then sitting on the warm side, watching things I guess. Is it unusual that he's out of his hide? Or I guess since it's now 12 midnight it's normal for him to be up and about?
Here's yet another really crappy picture...LOL

My normal has been in a 40 gallon tank since he was a hatchling, and hes doing great...Hes a year and a half now, and 38 inches.
Id rather him have room to explore and have room to move around, than to be stuck in a little tub...But thats just me.
