    Size?

Hi. This may be a silly question but I thought someone here might know.

I was wondering how common it is for a male ball python to exceed 4 feet in length. I have a female that it right about 4′ (49″) and I consider that to be pretty normal for an older female. But my male measures 55″ (his age is unknown but he was 46″ when I got him in 2005) and is by far the largest ball python I have ever seen in terms of both length and size.

I guess since I keep reading that males are generally in the 3.5′ range, I was just curious how often you come across a male this large.

    That’s all.

I have a 2 year old male that is 1700 grams and a 2007 clown male that is 2500 grams and about 60 inches long...

Used to own a big black back male too, he was about 2200 grams and 5 feet long

    Cool.
Mine probably falls into the "black back" category. He looks similar to the one in your second pic except his head is larger. Also the babies he has produced all have a high amount of black.

That brings me to another question. You mentioned a 2-year old male that is already 1700 grams...... I have a pair of 3-year-old siblings that are not that heavy and are only about 32 inches. Are they growing slowly, or did yours grow fast?

Mine grew extra fast, I find most males make around 600 to 750 grams in a year.
There's always a piggy in the crowd though, lol.

I've had females hit 1400 grams at 12 months and had females hit 375 grams at 12 months.
I have a 3 year old that gave me eggs this past year, she was 1300 grams at the start of last breeding season.

I have a male that is 38 inches long at approx. a year and a half. My scale broke so im not sure on the weight but hes chunky.
Also im just guessing the age because ive had him for a year and the petstore told me he was 4-5 months old when I got him but who really knows.
