    Hygrometer

So I posted a bit ago about having a hognose who I had to sadly return to the reptile store I got it from(my thread is on this message board). I have recently got a baby ball python and he seems to be doing great! (hope this image scales down, sorry if it doesn't XP) Does he look like a normal? The ones he was with looked so dull compared to him, I figured he might have a smidge of some kind of morph

The temps I have are 89-93 as a hotspot, about 83-85 as midcage, and about 78-80 as the coolside. He LOVES that little coconut, and I am today/tomorrow going out and buying a coconut to make him a couple more(cant seem to buy those anywhere near me). Since I am a very new snake owner I just asked the store to ring up whatever sized mouse they were feeding him, which was a pinky(which I though was too small) and it was confirmed when I saw him eat it. I got him to eat yesterday(a week from the time that the store fed him). He is a great eater and took all of about 5 seconds to convince him to eat, which I am surprised he did since I got him last sunday. which was a pinky(which I though was too small) and it was confirmed when I saw him eat it.

And yes I know the whole thing about fishtanks for fish not snakes, I do plan to get a PVC or build something similar after the christmas holidays.

My biggest question here is I had this analog hygrometer already, so I order a nice digital one online. When I actually found my analog one, it wasn't in the best of shape, though it seemed to still read the humidity ok. I have the digital one in the mail(should take about 2-3 weeks), and because of the condition of it I dont want to leave it in his tank, so I put it in occasionally for a few moments to get a reading and just leave it above the tank. Outside of the tank its reading 60%(I live in WA), should i trust it or should I continue to mist him everyday? Other than that any critiques would be cool, just want to make sure he is healthy and happy. Oh, also, besides popping I was told tail and spur length were a good indication of gender(though not as accurate) is that true?

Sorry for all the info, just wanted to spare anyone asking 'whats the temps like' and ect. Just wanna make sure I am taking care of Edi properly

One last Q, I own frogs so I try to buy gallons of spring water instead of tap, but with all the misting for Edi's tank, its going through it really fast. Is it safe to use tap water just for misting? I would continue to use the spring water for his waterdish

Looks like a normal with a fresh shed.

Check this out. It's about 6 bucks at the pet store. I checked this in my cigar humidor and all the that i have are spot on. I have one of these and a digital in each of my cages. Double redundancy, better safe than sorry.

It's uses Velcro to attach to the wall so cleaning is a snap, just tear it off.

    What's up with the wires?

For some reason it's not showing it as a link. I will find it on amazon.

I have already ordered one and its on its way, do you think misting daily will be good enough until it gets here or should I buy another one?

And the cords are the thermometer probes, I just haven't settled on how the tank is setup so I haven't bothered to hide them

I live by the theory "one is none"

I Would pick up another so you have two. That way if one fails your not left in the dark.

I wouldn't trust the one you have. Pick up another and see if you need to mist.

Also the drinking water issue. I actually do it the opposite way. I give my snakes tap to drink and use filtered for foggers, misters, and misting. Tap will leave mineral deposits all over the tank glass but the spring won't when used for misting.
