What kind of snake is this

A friend of mine sent me a picture of a snake they saw in the woods in Texas. I'm not sure what it is. Can anyone ID it for me.

I'm no expert, but it looks like a Texas Rat Snake.

When I lived in TX my neighbors called them bull snakes and said not to kill them because they kept rattlers away. But they could have been pulling my leg.....

Kinda hard to see but appears to be a rat snake.

Thanks everyone. I know that will make my friend feel better. They freaked out when they saw the snake, snapped a picture and ran, Lol

Looks like a rat to me as well. Glad they took the picture and ran a lot of people would have killed it out of fear.
