Energy used up by flex watt?
Im in the process of getting a animal plastics adult rack, the 3 shelved ones, but i was just curious if anyone knew how much electricity it takes up, and possibly how much it would raise my electric bill?
Thanks, Jose

It should be your cheapest option over a room heater or heat lamp. Be sure your room is already warm enough for a rack system. While they do hold heat and humidity well they do not heat up well in cooler rooms.
I would call them and they should be able to tell you everything you want to know.

Roughly the equivalent of running a lightbulb 24/7. I think that's about 5 dollars a month.

Your looking at roughly 80 watts when the heat tape is running full power, but when regulated by a thermostat (which it has to be) it will use less most of the time)

Re: Energy used up by flex watt?
Generally, flexwatt use about 10 to 11 watts per foot. Once you add in the thermostat(required), then it will only run when needed. I would guess the earlier post of $5 or so would be pretty close.

Energy prices vary greatly I sadly live in a fairly costly place but here are the figures for my area, MAX figures.
17in (10w/ft) - $11.68 per foot per year
11in (20w/ft) - $23.26 per foot per year
4in (8w/ft) - $9.35 per foot per year
3in (10w/ft) - $11.68 per foot per year
Most power providers have a calculator on the web site... mine... look at the wattage widget...
