    Why weigh in grams?

    just wondering why do herpers keep track of weights in grams instead of ounces or pounds?

    Probably b/c not all of the breeders are based in the US, and we are the only people who have not advanced to the metric system

    even foreign breeders use grams and not kg.

    lol yeah I have to agree with geeko. Metric is more of a international system. Were pretty good at using both up here.

    Because grams are more precise without getting into fractions (1 ounce = 28.349 grams)

    Plus grams are internationally recognized.

    Personally I hope the US ditches the imperial system and switches to metric.

    Because decimals suck.

    imagine putting the weight of a 90g baby in pounds or ounces.....

    90 grams = 0.198 lbs or 3.174 ounces

    A kilogram is just 1,000 grams. I honestly don't know why people don't use the unit for snakes over 999 grams.

    My line of work has made me memorize all of the fraction to decimal equivalents from 1" - 1/128". I can say one thing is for sure. If I'm ever in charge we're switching to metric...
