    Anyone in Colorado springs?

My husband is a police officer and has been looking at Colorado springs, we are hoping to find an officer there to get local input and feel of the department.. Thanks

Can't help unfortunately. I have a buddy who has applied to CSPD but won't be getting the job for at least 6 months. Before he can get a job there we will have to get home from Afghanistan and he still has to go through the process of getting off of active duty. Good luck and the Springs is a great area.

I have a uncle who was on the PD in the springs. When I ask him about it he told me it is very very hard to get on with them since they kinda have a non stop supply of ex military personal.

As is evidenced by my buddy and myself (thinking about trying to get out before my time is up to go into law enforcement, been in 10 1/2 years but still have 7 on my most recent contract).

My husband just got out of the guard, has over three years police background and speaks fluent Spanish so we are hoping that will help.. unfortunately for non military it seems a lot if departments are like that. The academy my husband was in they went a different route and went for non military and degrees (if course not all but a high percent if the class) it turned it to be a great mix.
Good luck to your buddy! My hubby joined right after his deployment, we were filling out border patrol apps while he was in Iraq and he decided to switch gears.thankfully..

I am stationed at Ft. Carson when I'm not in Afghanistan.

I have been looking at border patrol as well and would love to get on their air mobile unit. I'm in fire support so I love sitting in observation posts and and air mobile unit air assaults into the desert and sits on OPs to watch for border jumpers. Its right up my alley could say but I would be "hunting" for people crossing the border illegally as opposed to Taliban! What is your husbands degree in and what was his job in the Army? Was he ever active duty?

We were turned off of border patrol for a couple reasons, but like you, my husband loved the observation duties (when not in combat of course) . he actually almost got into an air unit of the guard but didn't because he was going to go to Afghanistan and they trimmed the unit and cut those with important jobs and families, than ended up getting out..the good thing about birder patrol is they will take your time served to put toward benefits and retirement.my husbands degree is actually history. He was artillery for 13 years, often in a gunner position. When deployed he was retrained as
Military Police and than the Cav.

13 years as a 13 series MOS, that seems fitting! I am a 13 series and am training an Afghan Personnel Officer, Communications Officer and Fire Support Officer. Only the last one is my actual area of expertise. Par for the course in the Army!
