High Yellow Granite! With a Story!

This is my holdback female granite from 2011. She had a very rough start to her life. She is the sole survivor of a set of twins. When I pipped the clutch I noticed that one egg had apparently died and the yolk had solidified. I was quite disappointed to see that in the egg were two dead twin granites. The yolk had hardened around them like yellow concrete. I was working on my computer with the egg sitting next to me, awaiting its trip the the garbage when I noticed some movement. Despite all the odds one of the babies was in fact still alive (barely). due to the hardened yolk I had to actually cut the egg and yolk off of the surviving twin, and even had to cut away here dead twin sister. I had to sever the yolk stalk which caused some bleeding. After I got here out of the egg I set her up on damp paper towels and assumed that she would be dead by morning. Much to my surprise she was still alive the next day. She had absorbed no yolk at all and weighed a diminutive 10g. After a couple of days I had to assist feed her to induce a first shed cycle. She continued to gain strength over the first few weeks and I became more optimistic about her chances. She eventually fed on her own and now at a little over a year she is a healthy 500g beauty. This girl is a real survivor!
