    Exploding mouse!

This past weekend at a reptile show I bought a 50 pack of hopper mice for my 3 little babies. Today I tried to use one. I put it in a baggie in water that was hotter than I've used before. About 10 minutes later I felt it, and it was plenty warm and thawed through. Also when I squeezed it gently and some blood came out. I know this isn't uncommon, it didn't feel like there was any pressure inside it so I went to feed. I did the zombie dance with it and when my lil' girl struck it basically popped and there was a red mess before she could even try to constrict it. Of course she wasn't interested then. I had to give her a wipe down and a bath after. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Was my water too hot? Did I get a bad batch of frozen mice? It truly was a "WTF!?" moment.
