temporary enclosure questions

I am going to buy a plastic tub as a temporary enclosure for my BP. Any recommendations on good brands? How do I ensure that he can't escape the tub? Which lid styles help keep him in?

Any brand will be fine, I would just get a Sterilite from Target/Walmart

How old/big is your BP?

there are a few ways to secure the lid, you can simply put something heavy like a brick or textbook on top of the tub, you can use luggage straps/bungie cords, or you can use binder clips.

If you don't want to use bungee cords or binder clips (I don't blame you, I don't like them either) then go for one of the bins that has a locking lid rather than a snap on lid.

Yup, that would work.

We keep all of our hatchlings in 6 qt tubs. I have a few in 12 qt. tubs right now that are doing fine also and pounding back the rats.

Locking lids work fine on the smaller/shorter tubs. When you eventually upgrade to the longer models the middle section of the lid will have a fair bit of flex so you'll need to look into some type of middle support if you're still using a free standing tub.

you might check target also. they have some 15qt hefty brand tubs with latching lids that seem to be pretty good just another option for you. i use one for soaking my balls when they need it. it might just be me but i think the hefty ones lid seems to fit a little better and does not seem to flex as much.

These are what I used until I could get my rack done. I used the 30something qt ones though. They are very sturdy and the lids lock well.
